The accelerator complex at CERN
In spite of its enormaous size the accelerator complex at CERN
is one of the most sensitive instruments ever built. When
particles leave one accelerator and enter the other the timings
have to match within a fraction of a nanosecond. The energy is
successively increased till it reaches the maximum which the
accelerating cavities can provide.
