Hadron calorimeter: Hadron is the generic name for strongly interacting particles like protons, neutrons and mesons. The hadrons interact with the dense material of the calorimeter producing a shower of charged particles. The energy that these charged particles deposit is then measured. This device measures the total energy of hadrons.
