Hi Vato, I'm sorry I can't be with you. Thoughts as promised: * In general terms, assume that A Level students have minimal competence in maths - this means spelling out any calculations needed. This has been done fairly clearly in the existing pack and any changes need to be equally clear. * Providing spreadsheets for calculations would be helpful - teachers can then make their own decisions on whether or not to use them. I believe that the focus needs to be firmly on principles - such as momentum and energy conservation - as far as possible and not the maths. * I think the actual content of the original package is about right - and I think teacher response confirms this - so there is no need for a major change in content. The main need is for a more user friendly interface. In particular, provide any spreadsheets or help notes on a pop-up basis so that students can enter results straight into them. * Providing some worksheets - each representing a small unit of work - would be useful. These can refer to the more detailed notes and, possibly shorter 'help sheets' for students. They would I think be very helpful to teachers in integrating the package into their teaching. I have attached a sort of brief summary relevant to the existing package - which would need to be worked up into separate worksheets In the end, it will be sixth form students and teachers who use the package - getting an early draft checked (using average students as far as possible) will tell you whether you have got it right. I'm happy to provide some distinctly average students to test it on! Sorry this is brief, but I hope it is helpful. If you would like to follow any of this up, then you can reach me (off and on today) on 0781 029766.
