The solution to the second 'paradox' is simply that the speed of light is the same in all inertial frames. It is impossible for the tortoise to 'escape' from the light beam, no matter how fast it goes, as the speed of light is always 299 792 458 m s-1. Thus, it will always be able to see its reflection in the mirror. This is difficult for us to imagine, but we have to accept it, as it is how the universe fits together!
