Research & Teaching

Research at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Bonn University focusses on Subatomic Physics, Condensed Matter, Applied Optics, Theoretical Physics, Astronomy, and Astrophysics.

At the Institute of Physics the experimental research groups develop detectors and microelectronics both for particle physics and medical applications, and investigate together with the theoretical physics the fundamental structure of matter and forces in our universe.

Studying physics in Bonn ( broschure, 1MB ) offers in lectures and lab courses a broad range of opportunities for specialization. Advanced undergraduate as well as graduate lectures are also given in english language within the "Bonn International Physics Program" and the "Bonn International Graduate School".
