Research & Teaching

Research at the Department of Physics at the University of Debrecen focuses on Atomic and Subatomic Physics, Condensed Matter, Theoretical Physics. Research in these fields is also pursued at the neighboring Nuclear Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, that has close ties with the department. Solar observations are done at the Heliophysical Observatory of HAS, that is also situated in the University Campus.

At the Institute of Experimental Physics the research groups develop opto-electronic devices for particle physics, and  investigate the fundamental structure of matter and forces in our universe.

Studying physics in Debrecen   offers a broad range of opportunities for specialization. Advanced undergraduate as well as graduate lectures are also given in English within the PhD School in Physics .

Outreach

Each year the first week of March is the week of Physics in Debrecen, when students from local schools visit the Nuclear Research Instute for participating on presentations and laboratory visits.
