The
"Teilchentour" from Bonn University is aimed at introducing
particle physics and its applications to 16-year-old students,
complementing the basic nuclear physics curriculum at high school.
This makes it accessible for any interested reader.
It's first part focusses on basic explanations of the buildung
blocks of matter, and the forces between them. The experimental
methods of identifying elementary particles and their interactions
using bubble chambers and modern particle detectors can be learned
in several exercises on real scientific data. It introduces
the connection of particle physics to big bang astrophysics
or medical applications, which is further elaborated in the
second part, "Teilchentour
II".
