Research & Teaching

Research at the Department of Structure and Constituents of Matter is divided in three areas: High Energy Physics, Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics and Condensed Matter Physics, where about one hundred people do basic research in different areas of Physics, studying both their theoretical and experimental aspects.

In the High Energy Physics group the experimental researchers develop detectors and microelectronics for particle physics applications, and investigate together with the theoretical physics the fundamental structure of matter and forces in our universe.

Studying physics at the Physics Faculty of the University of Barcelona offers in lectures and lab courses a broad range of opportunities for specialization. There are also several graduate programes; concretelly, our department offers a quality Graduate Program in Advanced Physics.
