Research

Research activity of the Cosmic Ray Laboratory in Lodz relates to cosmic ray physics and high energy physicss. Our studies are focused on:
- problem of cosmic rays (CR) origin (astrophysical sources, mechanisms of acceleration)
- CR mass composition and energy spectrum;
- CR influence on the results of astronomical observations;
- elementary particle interaction properties from Extensive Air Showers (EAS) analysis.
Studies of cosmic rays at energies 1015 - 1017 eV are based on continuous registrations of EAS in the Lodz Air Shower Array. We also conduct continuous observations of solar activity by muon flux registrations in the underground telescope.

We collaborate with the Experimental Physics Department of the Lodz University. The Lodz group collaborates also with many foreign institutes and laboratories. Our main partners are: Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (Germany), College de France, Institute for Nuclear Studies of The Russian Academy of Sciences, JINR-Dubna (Russia), Durham University (UK), Institute of Cosmophysical Research and Aeronomy in Yakutsk (Russia), Uppsala University (Sweden).
